Introduction
Macmillan Cancer Information Service manually logged all their annual
2,000+ client visits, they captured a great deal of data from each visit
and used it to determine the best way forward for the service. However
it was becoming cumbersome to manage and analyse, they needed a database
to better manage the information. They also needed a database that they
could manage in the future.
What we did
We designed a database with an easy to use input screen in Access, this allowed them to record their information and produce their necessary monthly and annual statistics.
With our training and coaching of the information service staff they have been able to develop their IT skills and they are now able to make changes with little or no input from ourselves.
The database has now been adopted as a standard method of recording visits to their centres.
Ann Turtle, Macmillan Cancer Information Service
Manager, said:
"The database
has been a great help to us, giving us time to devote to clients by saving
us time doing our necessary administration."
